Thank you for your interest. The 2025 application window is closed. The Foundation's website will provide information in spring 2026 on how and if yes, when there will be a call for applications in 2026.

Regarding the 2025 application round (June 2-20): Definitive acceptance or rejection will be sent by mail on February 2, 2026.

Requirements for application round 2025/2026 were as followed:

  • In 2025, only musicians born in an odd year can apply (e.g. 1981, 1975, 1993, etc.). This restriction is intended to reduce the very high number of applications as fairly and transparently as possible.
  • Musicians from the fields of electronica, improvised music, hip-hop, jazz, pop/indie and rock and their interfaces.
  • Full-time (self-)employment as a musician for at least six years. We define a full-time musician as someone who earns at least half of their living through their musical activity or who devotes at least half of their normal working hours (42 hours/week) to their musical activity.
  • Membership in a professional Swiss or German association (e.g. SONART, Deutsche Jazzunion, Pro Musik) or in an interest group (e.g. Helvetiarockt, Music Women* Germany). Copyright and collecting societies (GEMA, GVL, SUISA, etc.) are explicitly not meant here.
  • Residence and tax registration in Switzerland or Germany

Membership in a professional association is a requirement because we believe that strong associations and advocacy groups with broad membership are essential. This is the only way to sustainably improve the structural conditions for musicians.
